Draft for legal review — not yet in force. Placeholders in [brackets] are completed before launch.
SmartShala Terms of Service
These terms apply to everyone who registers a school on SmartShala, the school management service provided by [legal entity name] ("SmartShala", "we"). By registering you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and that you may act for the school or trust you register.
1. Trial
A newly registered school gets a free trial of 14 days, extendable once by 7 days on request. During the trial nothing is sent to parents, no online payments are taken and the school's public pages stay closed. At the end of an unactivated trial the account becomes read-only, and it is closed 30 days later.
2. Activation
To use SmartShala with real families the school must be activated: it proves who it is, names the person accepting the agreements, chooses a plan and accepts the Master Subscription Agreement and the Data Processing Agreement. We may refuse or end an account that is not a genuine school or that misuses the service.
3. Your account
You keep your password and authenticator safe and tell us at once of any misuse. You are responsible for who you give access to and for the accuracy of what the school enters.
4. Acceptable use
You will not use SmartShala to impersonate another school or person, to send messages families did not agree to receive, to store data you have no right to hold, or to attack, probe or overload the service.
5. Your data
The school's data belongs to the school. You can export all of it at any time. We process it only to provide the service, as set out in the Data Processing Agreement.
6. Availability and changes
We work to keep SmartShala available and announce planned maintenance in advance. We may change the service; we will not remove a paid feature during a prepaid period without a fair alternative or refund.
7. Liability
To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the fees paid for the twelve months before the claim. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
8. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of India; courts at [city] have jurisdiction.
